Production Note #17

 In Production Notes

Welcome to Production Note #17. In the last two weeks, we worked a lot on the editing table, and the latest version, v8, is nearly perfect.

It was an interesting experience, especially for Lisa, that, after a break of nearly a month, she had a brand new and fresh perspective on our movie so far. Following this new perspective, she tried a few things that we’ve considered pretty good before, and suddenly a lot of things seemed to fall into place. So that now, we tell our story even better, we especially tell more of Vencie’s part of the whole story without leaving Leo out of focus for too long.

However, it’s time to end the editing process really soon – so we will not tinker with 95 % of the movie anymore, we feel it’s really good now. We will only try one more thing, and then we’ll call it quits. This last thing is a concert sequence that many test viewers considered redundant and too long, though Wolfgang feels it’s one of the musical highlights of the movie. We will try to shorten this sequence without killing its spirit, and without touching that song that Wolfgang loves so much.

We also got some first drafts of the title designer. They’re still not as good as we want them to be, but we found a good process on how to get to a good design soon. He will not only design the titles, he’s also our guy for the lettering, the movie poster and everything around it. Obviously, all these elements are very closely connected and cannot be developed seperately. So the next step is for him to go through the movie and find the perfect image for the poster. Based on that image, he will design the poster and the lettering, and, subsequently, the titles.

Wolfgang has been working on getting everything, including his production company, Let’s Make This Happen Productions, ready for the movie launch. Since it’s his first movie, there was still no logo and no website. So today, he bought www.letsmakethishappen.cc, the new domain for the production company. However, it will take quite some time until the website for the company is ready. For now, the domain redirects to this website.

Also, lots of work went into the logo for the new production company – and we’re proud to present it to you today:

We like that it’s clear and simple, and with a thin white frame, it will look great on a big, black cinema screen. Can’t wait to see it there.

The domain name for the movie is also secured already, but we’re still keeping the movie title a secret for while – but not for long anymore!

Unfortunately, we are facing another delay in the editing process now. Lisa’s editing computer broke down and needs some repair (don’t worry, our data is safe!), so our hands are tied here for now – hopefully not for too long, we really need to finish this as soon as possible!
