Production Note #15

 In Production Notes

Welcome to our Production Note #15.

On Sunday this week, Lisa finished the latest version of our movie, v7. Wolfgang watched it on Sunday, and there was a Test screening scheduled for Monday, including Co-Director Stefan, a very experienced Austrian editor (who’s a friend and partner of Stefan) and a fiction film director.

The best idea out of this Test screening was regarding the ending of the movie. We felt that the ending had always been good (and mostly unchanged since the second version), but a new idea has come up that doesn’t disrupt our ending but gradually makes it even better.

However, while there were some improvements in this new version, most of the changes that we did were just, you know – different. Not necessarily better, just different.

So it seems we’re approaching the end of the editing process. If changes don’t make the movie better anymore, it’s time to stop changing things.

We’ll still try this new ending idea and a few other things, but we generally feel that 95 % of the movie are perfect the way they are. The magical words PICTURE LOCK are slowly starting to appear on the horizon.

As announced last week, both Lisa and Wolfgang will be on the road in the next couple of weeks, so there won’t be any Production Notes until well into next month.

Lisa is at the Max Ophüls Filmfestival to present the movie LIEBLING she edited right now, and in February, she’ll be at Berline where another movie she edited, AGONIE, premieres. So, that’s pretty cool. Wolfgang goes on a long-booked holiday with his family and takes some time off to recharge his batteries for the finishing moves in the making of the Leo “Bud” Welch Documentary.
