Production Note #12

 In Production Notes

Welcome to Production Note #12 about what happened last week around the Leo “Bud” Welch Documentary.

Lisa finished the latest version of our movie just in time for the Test Screening that was scheduled for Monday evening. A lot has changed in this version.

First, we have a much better intro into the movie – we gave you some thoughts about that in last week’s Production Note already.

We also decided to give the movie more rhythm, to change the storytelling pace every now and then. So now we added some scenes that give the movie time to breathe, to really take in Leo’s world in a rather slow but very intense way.

All of that works really well, we think. This is not just our opinion but also the opinion of this week’s Test Screeners, film business friends of our editor Lisa. They both liked the movie a lot, or, as one of them put it: “You’ve got a cool movie about a cool guy.”

Of course, there’s still a lot to be done, but we feel we’ve made a big step with that version now.

We’ll do another Test Screening Session with the current version on Tuesday with our Co-Director Stefan and the Test Screener we already had a couple of weeks back who gave us so much excellent feedback. Also, an American Director of Blues-related movies is screening the movie this weekend, we’re very much looking forward to hearing her opinion on it – the first American opinion we’re about to get.

We’ll try to compose another Production Note next week, but with Christmas and all that, we’re not sure we can find the time between singing Christmas Carols, eating cookies, wrapping and unwrapping presents and travelling from one relative to the next for days on end.

So in case we don’t make it next week: Merry Christmas, y’all!
