Production Note #16

 In Production Notes

Welcome to Production Note #16, after a considerable break of a couple of weeks.

Wolfgang was on holiday with his family for some weeks, and Lisa is still at Berlinale with the movie Agonie which she edited.

However, some things did happen in the meantime:

Leo’s manager Vencie Varnado was able to clear the rights on some live music that is heard in the background of an important scene in New Orleans.

After his return from the holiday, Wolfgang started to work on the End Credits of the movie which proved to be quite the task. Even though it’s such a small movie with such a small crew, the end credits are 13 pages long! Right now they’re being reviewed by Stefan, and after this is done we will forward them to our Title Designer.

And of course the most important thing that happened in the meantime was that Leo had some health problem and was in Hospital in Austin, TX for about a week. He was in ICU for two days and was assisted by ventilation, he couldn’t breathe on his own. Luckily, he’s back home in Bruce now with a very detailed home care plan, and Leo’s manager Vencie says he’ll be back playing the Blues on stages in a couple of weeks.

This is Leo right after his release from the hospital, in Vencie’s car on the ten-hour drive back home from Austin.

For us, this came as quite the shock. Leo always appears solid as a rock, but even for him, health issues tend to get more dramatic when getting older. It was a very painful reminder that we really need to hurry up finishing the movie. After all, what we want more than anything else is for Leo to see our movie. So we’re all really really motivated, even more now than normally, to get this movie ready as soon as possible.

We’ll resume the editing process next week, and we’re optimistic that we’ll be able to finish the editing pretty soon. More about this hopefully next week.

LONG LIVE LEO “BUD” WELCH!
