Production Note #7
Welcome to Production Note #7, in which we have very little to tell. Lisa and Wolfgang reworked last week’s version of our movie. Some ideas from that version got tossed, some old ideas got back in – but somehow in a different context where we believe they might work better.
That new version is ready now, and it’s 104 minutes long. We’re now starting to invite film pros with no prior connection to our movie to watch the current versions and give us their professional feedback.
Sometimes, Leo is difficult to understand if you’re not familiar with his accent. Jewly Hight from Nashville Scene once did an interview with Leo and commenced her article like this: “Both Leo “Bud” Welch and I are native English speakers, but we still needed a translator during our phone interview.”
So in order to make it easier for our (for now, mainly Austrian) test viewers to understand every word being said, we’re now starting to subtitle Leo’s words.
In other news, it looks like there will be a Mississippi Blues Trail Marker for Leo. This will literally put Leo on the Mississippi Map forever – along with other Blues legends like John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf or Muddy Waters.
All it takes now is some money to cover the costs for the marker. For this, the Bruce Chamber of Commerce has established a fundraiser. Send Donations to

We will also do our part, of course.
